2013 Match Report
This year's Tourist Board sponsored Ramsey Angling Festival, was changed from the traditional mid May date to mid June to accommodate better tides, which proved a good choice as the month's delay had improved the fishing prospects. The first of the three days kicked off after the peg draw and the 51 anglers headed of to the eagerly awaited Point West venue to be met by perfect conditions. As in previous weeks, dogfish were caught from the off, alongwith dabs, whiting, gurnards, huss and plaice and anglers were soon kept busy throughout. In Zone 1, one of the manx favourites, Andrew Dugdale had to settle for second in the zone behind Kirk Watson of Sheerness, while Clacton's Rob Tuck and Tim Fagg from Deal headed Zone 2. It was a manx one two in zone three with previous Festival champions Marc Corlett and Dave Walls, and another home winner in zone 4 with Brian Davies taking the biggest bag on the night with a 17 dogfish haul, only one fish ahead of Mark Taylor.Pools on the night went to Martin Reid, Andrew Dugdale, Barry Sharpe and Saul Page, and it was a great start to the week as everyone weighed in.

The second night was held on Dogmills, and a later start to enable some darkness to improve what most predicted was going to be a difficult nights fishing. After a slow start, fish started to come in steadily, although some had more than their share with a few doubles and trebles. Biggest bag came from zone 1 with comeback kid Rob Sharples ahead of Simon Drayton, Rob Tuck collected yet another win in zone 2, Dave Hutchinson of Morecambe was second. Craig Buy backcasted his way to zone 3 victory in front of Orry Turner. Andrew Dugdale had his second runner up spot behind another previous winner, Saul Page.

Into the final day and with two zone wins, Rob Tuck led the hunt for the £1,000 first prize followed by Andy Dugdale, Simon Drayton, and Dave Read. Looking through the results, there was twelve anglers in with a shout and the third venue, Stone boat, Manx Match and Harold's boat, can be a heart breaker. A long awaited win for Ian Ashcroft in zone 1 included a rare double huss catch of 5 and 7 lbs, Brian Davies was only just behind in second.Three manx anglers topped the leader board in zone 2, Ben Richards, S. Littlewood and Don Jenner sharing third with Saul Page and Richard Yates. There was a tie in zone 3, separated by weight, Nev Charlesworth having the heavier fish over Dave Walls. Needing a win to boost his chances over Tuck, Andrew Dugdale pulled out the stops with the biggest bag of the week, an eighteen dogfish haul helped by a four dog first cast. Craig Buy needed a weigh off over Tim Fagg for second. Pools went to Littlewood, Mark Pinder, Simon Dawber and Rob Sharples. With Dugdale ending on 5 points, Tuck needed a third or better to win overall but fell short with a fourth place in zone 3 and shortly afterwards Dugdale was crowned a deserved winner. Craig Buy overcame a poor start on the first night to pick up third, and a tie for fourth was separated by length, Saul Page pipping Marc Corlett.Pools went to Stuart Littlewood, = Mark Pinder and Brian Davies, Simon Dawber and Rob Sharples
