Winter Shield 4 : 1st December 6pm-10pm : Harbour Walls
Ramsey Angling Club held their latest winter shield competition within the usual Ramsey boundaries, all 11 anglers decided that the piers were the place to be given the results from the SAMF Masters competition the previous two days. Mark Quirk fishing the North Pier was quickly on the catch card with a first cast coalie and when he added another soon after a comfortable lead was established. He added a dogfish with an hour to go to take the win on the night also taking a pool with a 10oz coalie and the pairs with Paul Graham, who managed to christen his new rod near the end with a single dogfish. This despite the relentless barracking from his fellow anglers, Coiln Skillicorns dogfish of 1lb 9oz gave him the second pool.
Results : 1. Mark Quirk 155, 2. Colin Quayle 113, =3. Colin Skillicorn, Paul Graham and Don Jenner, 80, 4. Chris Culshaw 41, 5. Kevin Quinn 34, 6. Johnny Green 31.
Congratulations must go to regular club members Andy Dugdale, Mark Quirk, George Dugdale and Bill Harrison who in recently held SAMF Masters, managed to catch fish in challenging conditions. This enabled Andy to win the prestigious SAMF Masters title, Mark placed second with George and Bill 6th and 6th respectively. Andy also had dad George to thank as his coalie catching skills captured them the pairs title.
